Table of Contents: Dark Jedi Council
The Dark Council consists of those who have been personally chosen by the Grand Master to assist him in the administration of the Brotherhood and the training of new Dark Jedi.

Grand Master (GM)

The Grand Master is the leader of the Brotherhood and is appointed by the Fleet Commander. He has sweeping dictatorial powers over the Brotherhood and he grants all positions and powers. He serves as the keeper of the Dark Hall (the Brotherhood's base of operations) and Governor Plenipotentiary of Eos (the Brotherhood's home world). The Grand Master also holds the title of "Dark Lord of the Sith" but transcends all three Dark Jedi Orders (the Sith, Krath, and Obelisk). Current and former Grand Masters are the only individuals throughout the Emperors Hammer territories who are afforded the title of "Lord". The Grand Master is also afforded the title of "Darth".

Like the Grand Master, his powers ascend over all three Dark Jedi Orders and he is the only individual other than the Grand Master who has the authority to appoint leaders of Clans. The Deputy Grand Master is the closest advisor of the Grand Master, bringing all matters before the Grand Master that might need his attention and helps him in making a decision As right hand of the Dark Lord of the Sith, the Deputy Grandmaster executes the Grand Master's will. When the Grand Master feels that the Deputy Grand Master has achieved a certain level of proficiency in the Ways of the Dark Side, the Deputy Grand Master will become a fellow Sith Lord and be afforded the title of "Darth".

The Master-at-Arms is charged with maintaining the Dark Jedi Roll, and ensuring its accuracy. New Apprentices are processed by the Master-at-Arms, as well as Novices assigned to Clans. The Master-at-Arms is responsible for approving all rank promotions and position appointments within the Dark Brotherhood (apart from Dark Council roles), as well as transfers of members between Houses and Clans, and as such can deny these requests if he deems them unworthy or unacceptable. The Master-at-Arms furthermore has been charged with the task of ensuring that feuding Clans follow the rules of the Art of Vendetta.

Headmaster (HM)

Herald (HRLD)

The Herald of the Dark Brotherhood is in charge of the creation of all insignias and hallmarks that all members of the Brotherhood should carry as well as the creation and distribution of the appropriate Grant of Arms to each worthy Jedi. The Herald also manufactures the custom lightsabers and lightstaffs that all Jedi may carry once they reach the required rank. Furthermore can the Herald be approached as well for creation of any other Grants of Arms, and Crests of which a unit in the Dark Brotherhood is in need. In matter regarding the award, use, and distribution of Grants of Arms and Lightsabers, the Herald acts with full authority of the Grand Master.

Assistants

Assistants are appointed by individual Dark Council members to aid them in their duties.

Praetor (P)

Praetors are the primary assistants to a council member. They take on whatever duties their superior assigns, except in the case of the Praetor to the Herald, who is the Dark Voice Editor. Each Council member is permitted one Praetor. The suggested rank of a Praetor is Dark Jedi Knight.

Magistrate (M)

Magistrates are the secondary assistants to a Council member. Magistrates take on what ever duties their superior assigns them. Each Council member is allowed to have two Magistrates. The suggested rank for a Magistrate is Jedi Hunter.

A Note on Suggested Ranks

Ranks reflect one's skill in manipulating the Dark Side of the Force, and therefore one's powers must grow at a progressive rate. Given suggested ranks may not be issued to a position's recipient for a short period of time while they prove their worthiness. This is most common when the recipient was more than one rank below the suggested rank prior to appointment.
