FLEET COMMANDER ANNOUNCES FLEET RESTRUCTURING!

The following will govern the general outline for an upcoming Fleet reorganization. It is anticipated that this will result in major revision and consolidation of the Ships in the Fleet as well...Please be advised that until these changes are posted in a future newsletter, they are NOT official...

TO: All Emperor's Hammer Members

FROM: Fleet Commander, GA Ronin

In close consultation with the Tactical and Flight Officers, I have decided

that it is time for a final round of restructuring while still stationed at the PLT

Daedalus...

Due to the recent influx of Members, the Emperor's Hammer Wing is being

upgraded "officially" to a Fleet in more than name only. The Roster,

Training Manual and Command structure will be altered to accomodate two new

Positions:

Fleet Commander

Ship Commander

I will become the Fleet Commander. My previous title of Wing Commander will be appointed to Commanders of more than one squadron on a particular capital ship in the Fleet. Wing Commanders, in turn will report to Ship Commanders who report to the Fleet Commander and the Command Officers.

In addition, there will most likely be a consolidation of Squadrons within the EH...this will primarily be the consolidation of the current VSD squadrons into two ISDs...(one for AOLers and one for Internet Members)...This should make roster maintenance a bit easier...

Also, ALL Command Officers will be recalled to the SSD Avenger and, as such,

will lose command of their individual ships...However, to compensate, the

Command Officers will become the "leaders" of the Fleet and above individual

ship commands...In addition, most will be promoted at least one grade in

Rank...The EH Training Manual will also be revised for release with Newsletter No. 22 which will incorporate these proposed changes...

Consequently, the anticipated Command Structure (i.e. "Primary Positions") would be:

Fleet Commander (FC)

Command Officer (varies)

Ship Commander (SCOM)

Wing Commander (WC)

Squadron Commander (CMDR)

Flight Leader (FLT LDR)

Flight Member (FLT MBR)

Also, the EH has recently acquired a Mon Calamari MC80 starcruiser which has been renamed the CRS Renegade in memory of Pappy...The CRS Renegade will serve as the command ship for the new Infiltrator Wing...The CRS Renegade will hold 4 former Rebel fighter squadrons to consist of one each of X-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing and Y-Wing squadrons (9 pilots/squadron for a total of 36 in the "Rebel Wing") ...Although this will undoubtedly give some disowned Rebel AOL pilots a new home Fleet, it will also serve the EH's purposes in "hit and run" style warfare...

Finally, please note that these changes are ONLY proposed and will not be official until posted in a future newsletter (probably by NL 22)...Following the command/fleet re-organization, the Emperor's Hammer will begin sorties into various Rebel held systems to stir up some trouble and so they don't forget the Empire is alive and well! The Bounty Hunters' Guild has just been dispatched to find the location of the secret Hast Shipyards since it has thus far eluded our TIE patrols...

I would like to thank the Flight Officer (ASutton348) and the Training Officer (Mstr Jdi) for their help and suggestions for the proposed changes...I'm sure we'll be working some late nights revising the EH...

Please contact me with any questions...

NEW EMPEROR'S HAMMER RANK INSIGNIA POSTED!

Lieutenant General Havok (CMDR-FCA1/LG Havok/Tau-1/INT Hpx), posts the following approved Rank Insignia for use by Members of the Emperor's Hammer:

FLEET COMMANDER POSTS POSSIBLE
HAMMER PLOTLINES!

Fleet Commander's Note:

The following submission was recently mailed to the Office of the Fleet Commander by General Melan Tyr (FLT LDR/GN Melan Pyr/Pi-2/VSD Mon), a recent appointee to the Emperor's Hammer Fleet. I should mention that under normal circumstances, I would not allow such a post to the Fleet by a non-Command Officer. However, GN Melan Tyr has eloquently worded the intended strategy I have for the EH in the years to come. In any event, the dissertation presented below is a proposed Battle Plan for the EH only and should not be construed as the ultimate destiny for the EH...

The last Star Wars movie has already been made, but the last novel has probably not yet been written. Since the Hammer accepts the legitimacy of the time line (that will be) established by the six movies and many novels, we may benefit from a strategy that will enable us to work towards our own special goals while still operating within the limits of the Star Wars universe.

One of the great things about the Hammer is that is continues to provide its members with interesting situations and diversified constructs. The Dark Brotherhood, the Hammer's Fist, the Bounty Hunters Guild, and the recent inclusion of Rebel club members are good examples. To justify continued practice of this policy, while providing believable plot lines that are in accordance with the SW timeline, we may need an overall strategy.

The strategy below give us the pretext for capture, battle, and conquest as well, thus allowing for the creation of new branches, such as the ones above. It also provides the role player with a sense purpose: Helping to ensure enthronement of our Fleet Commander. I bring this up because it seems to me that any club based on a game or movie that will not be producing new forms, might have the possibility to loose believability and the ability to hold the interest of its members. Such a goal, that provides for so many club-centered developments, while not having to diverge from the SW universe/timeline, will have a better shot at longevity.

A SUGGESTED STRATEGY

The Tarkin Doctrine served the Empire for many years. In light of the success of the Rebellion, one may well question the ultimate wisdom of it. Such debates are now moot. The central authority used to wield the power capable of enforcing that doctrine, is gone. Those upon whom that doctrine would be applied may look for succor from other parties, such as the fledgling Republic or other rogue imperials. As long as those who would stand against us, have hope, the doctrine is useless.

We need to establish our own doctrine which will serve our goals. When fulfilled, questions regarding the validity of the Tarkin Doctrine may be appropriately raised.

Retribution

Understandably, this will be our first response. The death of the venerable Emperor, the once loyal Vader, and a cherished commander in our own fleet, will make vengeance seem very attractive.

The Rebels should be made to pay for the chaos they've foisted on the entire Galaxy. But anger, as any dark side emotion must not be allowed to control us: We must control it. Such emotions are a source of great power in our hands, yet if we vent them in uncontrolled fury, their force will dissipate.

There may be several possible alternatives open to the Fleet. Command seems to be pursuing an extremely noble course: Restoration of the Empire. I'd like to point out a few less noble, ostensible alternatives, which might ultimately lead to that higher, even more rewarding goal.

Piracy

The death of the Emperor will bring on a dissolution of the central authority used to maintain not only order, but production as well. With our means of production curtailed, our access to finished materials will be cut off. We will need to find sources of immediate supply.

Our greatest strength has always been our combat prowess. There is no enemy we cannot successfully engage. We could use this asset to appropriate supplies, ships, and even factories.

The taking of factories will enable us to have access to a continuous stream of supplies. However, this presents us with a dilemma, since capturing a facility will neither insure its continued performance nor our continued access to it, without a permanent garrison and a force to defend it from other marauders. We will be forced into choosing between defending far flung positions, while engaging in other attack operations.

Consolidation

I would imagine that some fleets will wish to carve out a sector of the Galaxy for themselves. They will do this in the base desire to aggrandized themselves at the expense of the Empire. However, if we are to effect the reunification of the Empire, we may have to pursue the very same course. This avenue may be made to serve our own long term goals.

With the inevitable acquisition of factories and deep space platforms, the Hammer will undoubtedly have to expand and diversify. This will necessitate the acquisition of whole worlds and planetary systems from which raw materials and human-power may be extracted. These systems should be consolidated in an easily defensible pattern.

Expansion

Once consolidated, our sources of raw and finished materials will allow us to expand. In order to do this, the Hammer, while retaining its 'elite' character, should give birth to a more diversified force. It may be advisable to construct a capable army, which could be used to garrison our holdings. We may also like to consider the erection of an extended navy that could provide yeoman duty of attack support and system defense, thus leaving the Hammer free to pursue more challenging goals.

Restoration of the Empire

Our success is destined. We will restore the Empire. If we strike fear in their hearts through the ferocity of our vengeance... If we wear them down through piracy... insure our own means of supply, and expand into their own homes, who could stand against us?

We shall one day soon, come into possession of the Imperial Throne. To whom shall we give it? Who deserves it? Who deserves that prize more than the one responsible for its taking?

FLEET COMMANDER APPROVES 25th BATTLE PLOTLINE!

The Fleet Commander herein approves the 25th Battle Plotline for the Emperor's Hammer and it's associated 5 Missions, created by General Jac (CMDR/GN Jac/Delta-1/SSD Avr)...

Spoils of War

In this five mission battle, as an Imperial Navy pilot, you will be required to destroy and/or capture Imperial technology that has fallen into Rebel hands after the Battle of Endor. Specifically, the Rebels now have several complete Missile Boats, as well as parts and design specifications. Needless to say, this is a critical time for the Empire, and you must prevent the transfer off the Missile Boats to Rebel research centers. Good luck and good hunting.

Mission 1) ID a Rebel convoy. Be prepared for some stiff resistance.

Mission 2) Destroy a Rebel research facility.

Mission 3) The Avenger falls under attack just as Delta Sqd. returns from mission 2. Protect the Avenger at all costs!

Mission 4) ID and destroy the convoy carrying the Missile Boats and parts.

Mission 5) ID the containers the Rebels left behind. Watch out for a Rebel ambush. A Dreadnaught has been seen lurking in the area.

(X)-Wings of Glory v.1.0 Fly the Imperial Xwing!

for Tie fighter with Defenders of the Empire

by Brian Turbey

What this package (xog.zip) contains:

xog.txt - This document

ship8.lfd - The Imperial Xwing!!

& 5 new missions -

b1m1fm.tie - Gunboat (hmrb27m1.tie)

b1m2fm.tie - Xwing (hmrb27m2.tie)

b1m3bm.tie - Xwing (hmrb27m3.tie)

b1m4im.tie - Xwing (hmr27m4.tie)

b1m5gm.tie - Xwing (hmrb27m5.tie)

How to use this package:

Notice!!! Backup your files. If you don't, you might have to

deal with lost missions or ships!

Step 1: (Notice, you don't have to do this step if you have edited

your flight.ovl using tiese133 by Jeff Moore)

First make a COPY of tieint.int which can be found in the tie\cp dir.

Rename this COPY to xwing.int and put it back in the tie\cp dir

Step 2: Put the ship8.lfd found in this package in the tie\resource

dir. If you already have a ship8.lfd make sure you make a backup!!

Step 3: Put the new missions into the tie\mission dir.

they will replace the battle one missions

so make sure you make a copy of these missions before

hand, and keep them in a safe place.

Step 4: Confirm that the Xwing is working by looking in the Tech

Room, you should see and Imperial Xwing. Also look in the his.

Mission Room. You should see and Xwing here as well.

Now, play the Battle One missions either with a new pilot

or by using the historical missions for battle one

Have fun and let me know if you liked it!!

Note: Play on the hard setting. I haven't tested the others

This package will let you fly an Xwing but you will see

out of a Tie/in cockpit. If anyone can get the Missle boat

or Gunboat cockpit targeting systems to work right please

let me know; they look so much nicer for an Xwing.

You can also make your own historical Xwing missions

using TMB. Just name the missions hx1w.tie, hx2w.tie, etc.

Or, If your too lazy to make your own, Rename missions

2-5 of this package to hx1w.tie, hx2w.tie, etc. when you've

finished playing them as part of the battle.

These files were created using:

Tie Mission builder by Sterling A. Moses - build your own tie missions

Tie Ship Editor v1.33 by Jeff Moore - fly A-wings, B-wings, etc and improve your Ties

Universal Game Editor by Jack Hartman - Edits just about anything

I highly recommend all of these and suggest you get them

And make sure you register!!

Fleet Commander's Note:

Since the use of this Battle relies on integral files in the ZIP package, this file (xog.zip) has been left attached to this newsletter in its original ZIPped format...
