Battle Reviews

I did not enjoy this battle at all. You are in a Missile Boat the entire time, with a locked loadout. For the first three missions all enemy craft are given chaff, which means you have to dumb fire all of your missiles if you want to hit enemies reliably. There is no point in using the tractor unless you are going to laser every starfighter down with the Missile Boat, which defeats the purpose of having a missile boat to begin with. You cannot simply skip destroying the fighters, because you can fail the missions instantly if a bomber gets through, due to issues with the weapon hook bug and the chosen enemy starfighters.

Two of the missions are possible to fail without even firing a single shot. There is no variety in the missions, they are all go here and kill X thing, which may be a result of the RtF prompt, but there is definitely the possibility to work in a capture or scouting side operation in there somewhere. There are no secondary and no bonus goals at all. Mission four is particularly painful, where you have to destroy an enemy heavy capital ship by yourself while being attacked from all angles by potentially dozens of the only type of enemy fighter in the battle. If a single enemy starship is destroyed, the enemy capital ship heads to hyperspace, and you don't have the time to destroy it. For some reason enemy bombers will also fire advanced Proton Torpedoes at you, I do not know why. Some craft/mission variety, not being locked in the Missile Boat the entire time, and some bugfixes will definitely make me change my rating, but at present I found it to be a slog.

PAR!

This is the battle form of my RtF2024 fiction pieces to show how we finally finished off the Kilji. I think it is a fun bomber battle. It isn't too hard and has some great scenery. Have fun!

Warning: the content of the Commander's briefing for M3 is rather dark...

Mission 2-4: Due to an issue with the xwa weapon limit hook not working properly, it is possible to fail these missions at any time if an enemy bomber fires too many warheads at your capital ships (hook issue may not occur for all players, not a file/creator issue). Enemy bombers will fire advanced proton torpedoes at the player craft with no lock.

Mission 1: Player craft is given Chaff but no enemy craft are given warheads.

Mission 3: Mission At the start of the mission, sometimes something collides with the ISD Challenge, either destroying it or damaging it so heavily the mission is impossible to complete.

Mission 4: It is possible to fail the mission before getting near the CRS Divine Hand if your bombers destroy a corvette at the very start of the mission. All waves of fighters that launch from the Power Hammer travel through another capital ship in their path, an RLD I believe.

\TFTC\Frontres\Tour\squad5.cbm
\TFTC\MedalsDescriptions.txt
\TFTC\Frontres\Medals\Battle0.cbm
\TFTC\Frontres\Medals\LBattle0.cbm
\TFTC\Frontres\Medals\MEDALS.txt

Introduction
-------------
For the 2024 Raise the Flag Competition I wrote two short stories that detailed the actions of Typhoon
Squadron during the final campaign against the Kilji Illumine to take back the Tkon Rift. When writing
those stories I made them with the intent to turn them into a future battle. This is that battle.

The Kilji Illumine have dealt a significant blow to the Emperor's Hammer during the battle over the Tkon
Rift some months prior. The TIE Corps thought they would have an easy time of defeating these orange
skinned aliens but they were quickly proven wrong when the Kilji ships seamed to tear through the TIE
Corps ships like wet paper. Since the cease fire at the end of the first Battle of the Tkon Rift the
Science Office has been hard at work to level the playing field between the TIE Corps and the Kilji.
They think they have found the solution and have deployed it to a select group of test pilots for field
testing...

Audio
-------------

This battle uses a mixture of human voices, both natural and using an AI voice changer
to alter my voice for the different roles and AI Text-to-Speech.
