DGM REPORT

DGM REPORT #5
FROM: DGM DSP Elwood the Brave
DATE SUBMITTED: 1st October 2017
NEWS HEADLINES
* Raptr replacement - advice
* Pimp the Fleet v5.0 September results - in the DGM competition section

OVERVIEW
Welcome to my fifth report as Deputy Grand Master.

Raptr should shut down today, at least to my limited knowledge. That's why the GM, the MAA, the CON and myself were looking for a game time tracking tool that might replace Raptr for our membership. We tested a couple of tools and found none that would combine the usability and accurateness of Raptr when it comes to tracking the gaming times of all the DB approved game platforms. Still we had some candidates that might fit our needs. My personal favourite after the evaluation is WhatPulse. Only at the second look this software tool is a good replacement for Raptr, but it really deserves this second look. The logging of all keystrokes and Mouse clicks is useless, at least for me, but it might be interesting for some of you to know these statistics. But WhatPulse also tracks the running times and the active times of ALL running programs, if you didn't set it up to ignore a given program. You can see recent (daily) usage times, and overall usage times for each software not put on ignore. This makes it the perfect tool to track ALL our game platforms.

All other game time tracker we tried have issues with at least some of our supported game platforms and thus might be useful only to those not running a given game. One of those other trackers is Game Play Timetracker. It worked perfect for Star Conflict and most of the times for STO, but utterly failed in recognizing my SWG playing times. Try it, if you want to.

Another tool, tested and used by our GM, is Razer Cortex. I have no big experience with this tool, but the GM is using it and said it does track his gaming times quiet well. If you want to try it out, feel free to use it.

All other game trackers we've tested failed in one way or the other and didn't fit the smallest parts of our needs. These three though should be usable, if you can set those up for the games YOU play. Make sure to keep your game times logged by the same time tracker in the future and to send a screenshot of the latest results either every weekend or by the end of the month to your BTL, cc'ing your CON. If you want to use WhatPulse, feel free to contact me if you have any issues getting it setup to track your games.

Just as a reminder, the TC/DB and the RS are starting an ongoing weekly Combat Event. These events will take place every Saturday at 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Pilots from both the TIE Corps and Battleteam Members of the Dark Brotherhood are eligible to submit for both Legions of Combat and Clusters of Fire in their respective groups for multiplayer credit!

Just a little reminder for our report writing members. Please make sure you upload your reports to the database!
