Emperorshammer.Net Shut Down by Crystaltech for Technical Problems:  09.19.02
As Submitted From:  Fleet Commander (GA Ronin)

As Emailed by our ever vigilant XO (09.18.02)...

I emailed another person at Crystaltech about how I was going to take down the message board system on the site in the hope that it would stop these problems. In the email, I said I was unable to do this until the 22nd. I was then going to ask that you guys monitor the site in the hope that removing that part would stop these problems outright.

Fleet Commander's Note:

IMPORTANT:  Don't go posting your displeasure on CT's own message board Forums...!!! They have threatened legal action against me personally (not that they have a case)...:)  Just keep your posts appropriate, polite and restrict them proper, legal venues.

And thank you ALL for your voices of support...The XO has the database backed up and we're evaluating other webhosting sites to re-post the TC database...It should be up next week...!

Now...a few points for me to add:

  • With the 3 to 4 emails we got on the topic, there was reportedly a "memory drain/bleed" problem back in July 2002.  SA Astatine personally reviewed the code for the EH Database (~500 MBs) and fixed the problem.  SA Astatine emailed their tech support of this and we were never notified otherwise until...

  • We receive an email last month stating there was still a memory drain and they threatened to shut us down.  I responded with a rather irate email threatening to cancel the EH account with Cystaltech if they didn't get of their collective butts and HELP us instead of intimidate us.  SA Astatine stated what he mentioned above.  Namely, that he would move the Message Boards that were suspected to be causing the problem.  Apparently, our efforts did little good, as evidenced by their shutdown.  Neither the XO nor I had any opportunity to even make a recent backup the database !

  • This basically affects the ENTIRE TIE Corps until we get a replacement up (that's about half our Membership, boys and girls).

  • CT was charging me (personally) $49/month for the emperorshammer.net ISP hosting...PLUS ~$4 to $8/month for bandwidth exceedances.

  • The EH Internet Officer (IO) is already updating the IO EH Website policies to reflect the same and ask all EHers with CT websites/domain hosting services to drop the same ASAP !!!

On a personal note...I work in RL as an environmental consultant...I know customer service...and how to treat people.  I am probably most upset with the matter of fact, carefree, impersonal, almost "mechanical (automatic)" nature of this correspondence.  I DON'T like getting taken advantage of and brushed off...by anyone...least of all after they just collected their monthly billing from me ! ...GRRRRRRRR !

Someone get me my lightsaber !!! :)

Osan'gar Resigns as Chancellor of the Imperial Senate:  09.16.02
As Emailed From:  Former Chancellor Osan'Gar

Imperial Senate

Greetings,

I hereby resign from my position as Chancellor. University requirements have led to me having less and less time for the position, and I apologise for my poor performance as CHS over the past month or so.

As for replacements, I'm not sure, but there are good people in the Senate who could do a far better job.

Pri, could you place me in the reserves, as I will basically have no time over the coming months.

VA Keldorn Awarded Grand Order of the Emperor (GoE) Medal:  09.09.02
As Recommended By:  Internet Officer (FA Ari)

(Please see the Operations Manual for medal descriptions)

<SALUTE>

Honorable Sirs,

I would like to recommend VA Keldorn for the Grand Order of the Emperor. His service to the Emperor's Hammer as a whole as been nothing short of superb. He's now resigned from Grand Moff, a position which he brought a new meaning to, and was one of the most active GMFs in quite a long time. Additionally, he's been responsible for some of the amazing site designs including but far from limited to EHNet, the Directorate site, the Avenger Squadron site, Dark Brotherhood site, just to name a few. His creativity keeps the EH constantly in an upward spiral of new ideas. His assistance to the Internet Office as well has been tremendous: from working on both Project Hawkeyes, to creating the IO Graphics Creation Service, and lots of other miscellaneous things I've asked him to do. I think his deeds stand for themselves and have well-earned him a GOE medal.

Respectfully Submitted,

Flight Office Report:  09.16.02
As Emailed From:  Flight Officer (FA Priyum)

Flight Office

** Please forward this down to your pilots **

Greetings all and welcome to this week's Flight Officer Report...

News -

- You may or may not have heard, but I fell fairly seriously ill last week and spent a couple of days as a guest of our nation's great health service. Before you all go sign the get-well card, I'm pretty much recovered, but what this meant was that updates and requests piled up for a while. I've cleared through them all now, but there's a chance I might have missed something. If you sent anything to me last week and expected a reply, or if it's a request that hasn't been completed, please resend it. Thanks.

- I'm pleased to announce the promotion of two Wing Commanders...Colonels Indaro Gallia and Wil Striker (VIII and XIV respectively) have both been promoted to the coveted rank of General. These Officers have demonstrated over an extended period of time what it means to be a great Flag Officer and the promotions are very well deserved. Congratulations.

- Submissions are still being accepted for the Auroran News Networks, the EH's newest and most comprehensive publication. Submissions can be anything from fiction (including fictitious news articles) to graphics to humour. Submissions should be sent, zipped if possible, to fo@emperorshammer.org and io@emperorshammer.org with your ID Line.

- Congratulations go out to 2 Squadrons from the Aggressor Strike Force: Diamondback ('grats to the new CMDR, MAJ Azazel, btw) and Avenger Squadron, both Squadrons having broken the 200 Citations mark. This hopefully sets a challenge for the other Squadrons in the Fleet.

- A REMINDER: Too many people are forgetting the rules on Transfers. These rules are in place to ensure that I don't have to trawl through the rosters for email addresses, and more importantly, that all people involved are accordingly informed. It's one thing when the latest n00b forgets these rules, but another when Wing Commanders start ignoring them. For everyone's benefits, the transfer procedure:

1. A pilot wishing to transfer should request the transfer first from their own Commander. This allows the Commander time to find out the reasons why the transfer is being requested. If there is a problem in the Squadron, now is the time to correct the problem.
2. The pilot should then find out the email addresses of the Commander and Wing Commander of the Wing to which he or she wishes to transfer. If you can't be bothered to do this much, you're obviously not ready for the level of commitment that a transfer to a new Squadron involves and your transfer request will be denied immediately.
3. The pilot should now send a transfer request to their Commander, cc'ing their own Wing Commander and the Wing Commander and Commander of the Squadron they wish to join.
4. The Commander of the Squadron to which you are transferring should reply to all addressees on the transfer request, remembering to cc the Flight Officer.
5. The Flight Officer will then approve the transfer.

Quote of the Week:

(Ronwe): I never claimed to have a good memory....
(Malice): Maybe you did. It's not like you'd remember.

Song of the Week:

Under Pressure - David Bowie & Queen.

Can It Be?

Can it be that only a year ago we watched in horror as the towers fell?

Can it be a year since those planes carried our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles,
grandparents, and children away?

Can it be so short a time since the passengers of that ill-fated flight showed us the meaning of
unconditional love by giving the ultimate sacrifice so others would not perish?

Can it be a year since those firefighters showed the greatest courage I have ever seen by rushing
into those crumbling buildings to save those people that they had never met?

Can it be a year since Americas heart cried out not for revenge or retribution, but for justice?

Can it be that we will never get what we truly want from that sad September day, out loved ones
back and those planes landing safely?

Can it be?

ISD II Vanguard Model Complete:  09.06.02
As Emailed From:  FL/CM Serge Broskopf/Mantis 3-1/Wing XV/ISD Vanguard

I am glad to announce that the model I have been working on for quite some time now is finally finished. To recapitulate: the model concerns an Imperator II Class Star Destroyer and since I'm stationed aboard the Vanguard, I naturally chose to baptize the model as such. The model is 40 cm long, 20 cm wide and 15 cm high and features lights and sound! The lights are its windows that are lit and also its engines. For this, I used 7 blue LEDs (the engines) and two blue and two orange ones for the lighting of the windows. The windows are made with fiber optic cable. I used a background poster identifying the model as the Vanguard and also commercializing the Emperor's Hammer a bit. The model will be participating in the modeling contest held at this year's Belgian National Plastic Modeling Convention. Predictions are good, considering the low interest in the science fiction category and the originality of the model and its entourage. The contest is held on October 6th. More news may follow later. Thumbs up and hope the Vanguard will shine that day!! AY! DO MANI!!

Crusader Appointed Grand Moff of the EH Territories:  09.11.02

EH Directorate (DIR)

Some history supplied from our new GMF...

Application for Grand Moff

Well Ive been trying to run the DIR as Minister of Communications for some time now so I think its about time to try and become the real thing :P

Command Experience:

I've had command experience in most of my Sub-groups, I've been:

CA:LO (EH)
QUA/AED/SGT - all x 2 (DB)
CRA (BHG)
CMDR (IW)
PG/GG/MoC (DIR)
M:COMM (IS)

I also used to be leader of a Zone clan that played JK we had a steady 60 member count. At times we broke 100 but that was only for a month or 2 before JK became too old for people to care about.

My written comm skills...I don't know how to prove this, I guess you can just look at this application...

My online presence is huge. I spend more time on the computer then anything else. Many hours a day, I am going back to school soon so it wont be the normal 6 hours a day I am on during the summer but it will still be a few hours a day :p Whenever I'm online I am on IRC and checking my email constantly. Also checking the MBs whenever I run out of places to go. Which happens far too often.

Of course I'm always checking my email when I'm online so my response time is extremely small.

I can work with anyone that I need to. I have never had a problem with another member of the EH that was big enough to make a deal out of. I have been working with the DIR membership and council for quite awhile now. I have been helping the DIR out since Keldorn disappeared for that month and I have been working with all the people in the DIR and on the council. No one has had any problems working together.

I can create/maintain online work, I make web-sites all the time, including the DIR one ( http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.org/ehdir/ ) and many many other sites.

As for turning around an aspect of the EH. The DIR was inactive after GalaxyQuest was taken from us. No one did anything and Keldorn went missing shortly after. At the same time the DGMF stepped down and the Minister of Indoctrination was fired. No one was around to do anything in the DIR but I stepped up and took control and now we have 64 active members who are willing to participate in any activities that we start.

I have plenty of plans for the Directorate. Some I have been working on already. We already cleaned the membership with a SG wide AWOL check and I assigned new people to all the positions filled the planets evenly with the new members. Next I plan on bringing in a gaming platform or 2. Most of the members aren't too overly excited with writing fiction, although some are. So I want to keep fiction and bring in games in which members are governor types. I introduced the idea of a StarCraft - StarWars total conversion and the members thought it was great. Many want to help out and I have a list of them and what they want to do. StarCraft is a very fine game and missions can be made that have plot and are interesting. I want to bring it in and convert it to SW style so that it fits in better with the EH. I also think that SW:GB would be a good game. Its already set so we can use it and many members have that one also. They just like StarCraft better :P And if you are totally against the DIR having game platforms, then I have some backups. Diplomacy was being worked on a couple months ago and I am sure I could pick up where the previous people left off and finish it. That would take some time and to fill the time we would have to continue writing fiction which is what we are doing now. Also awhile ago I brought in a Directorate Newspaper where members could submit fictional articles and make pictures and we would make it look like a newspaper - similar to a SG Newsletter. Some stories could be about actual happenings in the DIR and others just made up.

I've been in the EH since 1997 when I joined the DB with JK. Ive been in the DIR for quite a long time but my join date is long gone. I have been doing all the work in the DIR for all the positions for over a month, and becoming GMF and being able to appoint people who I know can do what needs to be done in the positions that need filled would make my job in the DIR a lot easier. I would be doing one job instead of all of them and I would be doing something I want to do.

Janson Appointed Lord Ambassador of the EH:  09.11.02
As Submitted From:  Fleet Commander (GA Ronin)

Some history supplied from our new Lord Ambassador...

<<SALUTE>>

Greetings, sirs! Im Colonel Wes Janson, and would like to apply for the position of Lord Ambassador.

To begin, Ive been in the Emperors Hammer for two years now. In this time, Ive served as a Squadron Commander and a Wing Commander, for a period of nearly 18 total months. During my eleven month stint with Phoenix Squadron, I managed to turn a squad of nearly AWOL members in to a close knit group of people, with an average activity level of two or three battles per week up from none. With Wing XIII as Wing Commander, I spent roughly six months trying to bring up the activity level of the Wing after a serious slump (and a pounding in a Battlegroup competition). Coming up with several new ideas for the ship and wing to give people something to work for in terms of activity, I eventually went in to resignation as I would be on leave for most of August. So in order to try to preserve the Wing as much as possible, I chose to step down and let a new person take over whod be available continue my work. In my time here, Ive served as a COMMA under Admiral Motti, a TACA under High Admiral Striker (to bring about the Jedi Knight Compendium), in addition to an Envoy of the Advanced Guard for a period of roughly nine months, in which time I helped negotiate alliances with a group of new clubs not all of which were successful. J

To touch on your posted requirements, Im around IRC for several hours each night on the weekdays, and for most of the day on weekends. In terms of Message Boards, Ive put up more posts than some entire Squadrons have. J In general (meaning, lacking a solid reason), my e-mail response time varies from a matter of minutes to a day. As long as Im online, Im checking my e-mails every five or ten minutes. In all my time here, Ive worked with many different people from the lowliest Flight Member or Cadet, to Command Staffers. Im usually fairly easygoing, and pride myself on being able to work with many different people to compliment each others work skills. This is especially true with club leaders, to which I want to make a good impression of not only myself, but the Emperors Hammer as a whole.

In terms of the Advanced Guard, I have several plans which Ive come up with to help improve the workability of the Guard. For one, the Guard was turned in to a group of brain stormers, a choice which I never fully agreed with. While this is certainly not a bad idea (Its quite useful at times), it shouldnt be the sole purpose of the Guard. The first step I would take would be to change the organization of the Guard to something resembling the State Department. To that end, there would be one Bureau (Diplomatic Affairs okay, it needs work. J) for which its sole purpose would be to negotiate Alliances with other clubs. The second bureau would be named Cogitatio Lacus Latin for Think Tank (Name up for review), which would continue the work such as planning and discussion of all manner of things (an example of which would be to come up with new competition ideas against all manner of clubs something akin to the old Outer Rim Melee Nights).

An idea Ive been toying with (and would need some debate and study before implementation), would be to assign an Ambassador to each club we have an Alliance with. As it stands, when the Guard forms an Alliance with a club, thats the end of the game and no further action is taken. We put it on the page, and then lose contact with them, in a sense. What I propose would be for the third division Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The job of this bureau is to maintain an Ambassador to each of our Allies, to maintain amiable lines between our two clubs. Using this method, we would have a clear cut line of communication in which we could exchange information, or easily ensure we get messages across (such as competition challenges, etc). The purpose of the Ambassador would be to serve as a liaison between our two clubs. In order to keep our numbers fairly small, one Ambassador would potentially cover three or four clubs as it would not be a demanding job.

The third major project would be to work out a coherent system for the ranks in the Guard, seeing as there is no clear cut definition. The system used a while back in which your TC rank dictated your Guard rank seemed to work, but Id like to see something a little more complex put in to play. The ranks are clear cut: Viceroy, Envoy, and Ambassador. Seeing as all the ranks basically mean the same thing, I began thinking of ways to use them more efficiently which means Id like to forge a new rank. In fitting with the three Bureaus (DiA, CL, DFA), each rank would serve an important part. The members of Diplomatic Affairs would hold the rank of Envoy, as they are the ones sent to forge Alliances. The members of the Department of Foreign Affairs would all maintain the rank of Ambassador, as they would serve as the Ambassadors of the Emperors Hammer to the Embassies in the other clubs (Hopefully, with an honorary field commission). The rank of Viceroy would be conveyed to those who choose to serve as members of the Think Tank (CL). Using this scheme, there would be no official rating system to which I mean that there would be only two superiors to anyone in the Guard. Those two being, of course, the Lord Ambassador and the Magistrate Equitum.

It can be said that the AG is fairly dead that I cannot deny. But I want to change that, and I have some ideas how. For one, there have been too many people who joined the Guard just to have a cool little acronym added to their ID Line. This NEEDS to change, else the AG never will. So in order to do this, I propose a trade off. Theres no way we can restrict membership thats far too rough for an online club for fun. So, Id like to bring back an idea used by one of the former Lord Ambassadors after the application sent to the LA and the Magistrate Equitum, the applicant must also participate in an online interview with the LA or both. The purpose of this is to weed out those who cannot dedicate enough time to the AG to be able to help us revamp it, and help bring in the active ones who really want to help. In due time, restrictions will ease up slightly, but not enough to readmit the people who just want an ID Line extension.

In terms of revitalizing the Advanced Guard, Id like to pitch several ideas. For one, we need to maintain constant communications with everyone and anyone Star Wars on the net. The Ambassador/Embassy idea would aid in this purpose somewhat, and the Guard would hopefully work in conjunction with other groups in the EH to find other clubs and get in contact with them. In this capacity, well go from maintaining the appearance of one of the best clubs out there well begin to display it prominently to the Internet at large. This touches on the idea of keeping an Embassy with the other Star Wars clubs around, to which we can use to our advantage, and make our presence known.

Another idea would be to have the AG hunt down other groups and clubs for our various groups to war with. For example, the GMRG and Elite Groups are usually looking for someone to war with, and to give the AG a bit broader of a focus, we could easily be used to aid the Elite groups in finding various external opponents to war against another way of making our name known.

Sirs, Id like to thank both of you for taking the time to read my rather lengthy application, and thank you in advance for considering me for this position. Should you need any more information, please dont hesitate to contact me and ask for it. Im available via e-mail at eh_janson@hotmail.com, or via IRC as `Janson` or some variant.

FA Jordynn Resigns as SDIR:  09.07.02
As Emailed From:  Former Supreme Director of the Ubiqtorate (FA Jordynn)

Intelligence Division (ID)

I have come to the decision that I do not have the energy or the will power to keep the Intel Division running as smoothly as it deserves. I have been fighting medical issues for the last 5 months and its time for me to fall back and regroup. After this little vacation in the hospital I hope to come back and serve as an advisory member of the ID.

I have enjoyed my run as SDIR. I leave behind a great group of agents who I am very proud of. I would like to recommend that my ExDIR, Troutrooper (TC pin #3610) take control of the Intelligence Division. He has served in the UBIQ for 10 months. First as our Training Director, under whose leadership saw the 1000th graduate, and then as ExDIR, who has among other things, helped run IntOrg threw at least 4 major crises, and uncountable minor ones.

GA Ronin, we have never had the chance to chat, however, I wish to thank you and Astatine. The EH is an amazing creature. I have seen a lot of kids grow up, a lot of friendships made, and a lot of prejudices challenged. Every so often, when I ran across something particularly nasty, I wondered if either of you got as heart sick as I did. I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you. The EH was great part of my last 3 years.

SO Report #3:  09.06.02
As Emailed From:  Security Officer (FA Brad)

Security Office

Today I am announcing the removal of the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB). I found that the tasks performed by the ISB can be better handled by the SO assistants, informants throughout the EH, and the Intelligence Division. I wish to thank everyone who helped with the ISB and its predecessor, the Sector Rangers. The tasks of observing and reporting violations of Imperial law falls into the hands of every Emperor's Hammer member. I will rely on certain individuals to aid the Security Office, but most of them will do so for the good of the EH and not require having a special position tagged to them. Of course, anyone who helps in a great capacity will be rewarded accordingly. Thank you all.

No cases were sent to the High Court of Inquisitors this week, but I am investigating a case right now and some other complaints were issued. I guess everyone knows who to report to now, as I received a number of e-mails this past week concerning security matters.

If someone wants to create a new design for the Security Office page, I would like to see them -- e-mail to me if you would like to see your design used for my office, and you will get a medal in return if I use your design. Someone could also make new designs for the Security Office banner if they wish.

Science Office Report #3:  09.06.02
As Emailed From:  Science Officer (RA Ender mBind)

Science Office

"So what are we doing tonight, Brain?"
"The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world!"

<salute>

Welcome to my third public report as a Science Officer, which for once is actually not a few days late on account of doing Science Office- like things. (All I can say is that people with special dietary needs should not try to consume furry animals caught on Endor before consulting with their Medical Officer.;))

Science Office News:

1. I have noticed that several members of the TIE Corps Flagstaff (Wing Commanders and up.) and even Command Staff members have selected restricted craft on their TIE Corps Personnel Profiles. These would be Grand Admiral Ronins TIE Protector, General Comptons K-20b, Avenger Squadrons TIE Shadow, Preatorian Squadrons TIE Preator, Tau Squadrons A-9b Vigilance Fighter or Omega Squadrons TIE Guardian. These people, the Fleet Commander, the former-Executive Officer and these Elite Squadrons have earned the exclusive rights to the use of these fighters and these fighters reflect their respected status. Consider this as a reminder that its not allowed to select these craft for personal use, also not if you think you have some sort of approval there are many other super fighters there for you to take. Command Staff and top Subgroup personnel can always contact me to request their own exclusive craft, if within measure and regular (quality) requirements.

2. But hey! You can also make them yourself: [shameless self-promotion] Do take the OPT Course and learn how to make craft to fit your missions! Get to the OPT course from the courses section of the Training Office site or via a direct link at:

http://www.gimmie.tudelft.nl/homes/blok10b/ender/iwats/

[/shameless self-promotion]

Science Office Status:

CA: Admiral Darkhill latest invention, the easy to use TIE95/CD strings.dat editor is in full production, I tested a working demo already expect it to be finished soon.

SCOA: We are still looking for somebody that can go through the various text files that are edited for patches and correlate which line goes with which slot. Other duties would include help in creating patches for the new system until the patch creator is done. Being able to model would be appreciated and being able to texture would be nice as well, though not required proven experience is. This SCOA will be working on patching under AD Darkhill, as such send applications to both darkhill@ehnet.org and mindb_ender@hotmail.com.

Site: The Science Office site can be found at http://sco.minos.net or via the redirect http://scienceoffice.isCool.net. Direct linking to site
components is currently not advised as its still under construction and will move soon. Recently updated are the projects pages, with full details on the latest projects, which again will be updated as these projects develop.

Science Office Projects:

New Site: What still needs to be done is mostly php work: the File and Patch archives have been designed to become a compendium much like the Battle Centre: with mirrors for the files, data on each patch, ratings, reviews and bug reports. Updates are being prepared mostly invisibly at the moment, but the new File Archive and Patch Archive have been designed/htmlized, the Fleet Manual and Order of Battle are near the stage of going in for approval just need to finish the craft I need to bribe the Internet Officer with to set up the database for me;)

TIE95 Custom Sounds: Based on the groundwork done for the XWA Briefing Launcher, CA:SCO Darkhill has started a new project to achieve the same for TIE95, but also covering the mission messages. In principle the most basic form of the patch already works it is being refined to be an actual launcher thats a lot more user friendly.

XvT/BoP/TIE95 Ship patches: This projects goal is to add all the original and Order of Battle craft that are still missing from these games, like
the SSD in TIE and XvT, the Medium Transport in all etc While pretty far already (about 75% done). The last thing completed is a workable ship slot usage list for TIE95, XvT and BoP, more pages will be added to the projects page soon.

Project Segway SCO section: Still on hold for more pressing matters, though work has started on a private player fighter for early in the game.

Emperors Hammer AGI Games with the goal to make at least one AGI adventure game, in the style of the old Sierra Classics like Leisure Suit
Larry, Space Quest or Police Quest. At the suggestion of MAJ CrazyR2 I now include the better SCI games too, he said hed consider making an SCI/AGI editing IWATS, I do hope he does [nudge, nudge]. In principle these games are so small in download that they compare to XvT or XWA battles in size, think about it: a compendium of player made EH-Adventure games!:) If you got any experience in creating such games, please contact me.

Finishing up:

I think that's it If I've forgotten anything or if you have comments, suggestions or corrections, let me know via email. Dont forget that all the
projects are described in more detail on the SCO site.

All my SCO reports are online as well: you can reach them on the TC database.

http://www.emperorshammer.net/reports/default.asp?commandstaffid=10

Until next time, good luck and have fun!

PREX Report #37:  09.07.02
As Emailed From:  President of the Corporate Division (AD Dark Angel)

Corporate Division (CD)

Our roster has grown a little bit since the last time I reported it. We are currently sitting at 114 members.

Command - 7
Trade Assembly - 65
Reserves - 41
TOTAL - 114

Just before I went on leave, I sent a staus update to GA Ronin and SA Astatine. The responce I got was positive, so the reforms on the credit system have continued, I hope. I haven't heard much else from those working on it. If there have been any major progress leaps, please let me know.

As the President of the Corporate Division, I have the honour of rewarding those who work hard. The member who we are able to reward today has been a member of the Corporate Division for an extremly long time. During that time he has continually been active, and produced many new inovative products for the CD. To the best of my knowledge this member has not moved from his origional position as CEO, but instead took on jobs in addition to those. Currently he is working as CEO of two corporations and overseeing the operation of the entire Trade Assembly as CHMN. It is my proud duty to promote CEO-CEO-CHMN/ Reb Crush to the rank of Commissar General. Congratulations Reb, wear your rank with pride, you've more than earned it.

While I may have some floating around my inbox, I have not seen nearly enough reports from CEOs and Direx members this week. I realize that school is just starting up again, but I need to know what you guys have been up to. Please try to get your reports in next week.

Well, that's it for this week. I should start to be around a little more this and future weeks. Please try to bare with me as I try to get caught up.

Thanks,

EH Poland Meeting II:  09.03.02
As Emailed From:  Admiral Marcin "Mike" Szydlowski

EH Poland Meeting II
by AD Marcin Szydlowski

Before meeting:

Just like a year ago, I promised all member of EH that I will organize another meeting, and it will be better than last year. In our first meeting participated only a few members and that was our main problems. That's why I decided to advertise it even more and set exact date long time before the meeting. So after talking to LCM Jonny Sawicki we agreed to start meeting on Friday, 12 of July, 2002.

Around 30 members of EH said they will be there, but I knew only 60% will arrive. As always. But this year, I had to make sure that swimming pool will be fully operational. Months were passing and the day of meeting had come.

Derek Dan arrived one day earlier so we went to my home, to spend a night there and wait for people

Meeting:

We had two targets. Train and bus station. I send Jonny there with his car to wait for Per and Airmags. Meantime, Tiss, me and my mother took my car and appeared at train station to take Thorn. He arrived shortly. DrDiablo informed me, that he will take his car and join us later, on meeting place, so we decided to take bigger car and go there. My packed our gear and left Bialystok around 12:00, just after we bought plenty of beer and food.

Hour of driving and we were there. We started to unpack our gear, prepare tents and connect computers. At the time we had only 2 of them, other two arrived later. We quickly made small LAN and installed all games. Some guys started to play XvT but I have decided that I will swim because it was very warm. This was great.

Two hours later Wiesio, my brother joined us. We has to go to the nearest bridge to meet Tvan and Mark. Finally they have joined us so we decided to make some pictures. And that's how this day end. We were drinking, playing, laughing and doind thousands of other things.

Next day way even better. Michael and Balrog joined us. Only for few hours, but it was cool too. I have barely defeated Michael in 1v1 MP match, though I told him it will be 28-0 :P But we both have great fun playing without lags. I called my buddy Tom, and he decided to join us and bring his computer. So we have four, and we could play 2v2. This was great. Definitely the best MP matches I ever had. Then guys started to drink, but it was ok, no one behaved wrong. Another day was like a day before. Some guys has to leave us.

The last day was great also. Diablo and Ann left early. Me, Tiss and Jonny left to clean the mess. (next year we will have patrols in kitchen to clean the mess). We left the place intact, waiting for us. Till the next year.

Final Thoughts:

This was great time. I met many EH members and we all became good friends. I am going to organize EHPLM 3 next year, and I hope more people will join us, to have even more fun. I have uploaded all pictures to FTP, so you can see the here: http://www.ehnet.stnet.pl/

I hope they will encourage you to join us next year. Trust me, it will be even better. I would really like to see people from other countries on our meeting. FEEL INVITED!

And finally, the list of people who were there and had fun!

Lord Ambassador Khaland Resigns, Replacement Sought:  09.01.02
As Emailed From:  Former Lord Ambassador (RA Khaland)

<Salute>

With a heavy heart I write this letter. I have held the position of Lord Ambassador for a couple of months, and I'm afraid I'm not really cutting it.

I have the time to hold such a position, but I'm just not committed to the job as a whole.

With this I am moving back into the line ranks, to take command of Wing XIII of the ISD GreyWolf.

I thank GA Ronin for giving me the chance at this position, I just wish I could have done better.

I will hold everything I have to pass onto the next LA...

Requirements for the position of Grand Moff...

Overview

The position of Grand Moff is unique among subgroup commanders in that the Grand Moff runs a subgroup and also must maintain the Systems Manual. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate long term commitment and consistent levels of output to gain this position.

Applicants must address the following criteria:

Selection Criteria - Essential

1. Prove command experience, at the level of at least TIE Corps Wing Commander or a similar/equivalent position of responsibility.
2. Good written communication skills
3. An acceptable level of presence in online media, such as IRC, message boards, etc.
4. Fast email response time.
5. The ability to work with a wide range of EH personnel, including the Executive Officer, Fleet Commander and members of the Directorate.
6. An outline of plans or ideas for the Directorate.

Selection Criteria - Desirable

1. Experience in the creation and/or maintaining of online reference works
2. Proven experience in turning around an aspect of the EH.

You must address each of the criteria with supporting evidence. Simply saying "Yep I can do that" won't be good enough. You must also include three references, at least one being a current superior. These references will be checked and your application will be considered in an
extremely negative light if you have not gotten permission from people to use them as references first. Applications are to be directed to the
Fleet Commander and Executive Officer with the subject "Application for Grand Moff".

Internet Office Report #54:  08.30.02
As Emailed From:  Internet Officer (FA Ari)

Internet Office

Well, lots of staff changes this week! VA Leeson is the new CA:IO, and please welcome to the IO staff the new IOAs, MAJ Dae Cam and MAJ CrazyR2, as well as a "unofficial" IOA, CM Ayudanter de la Clars. Hopefully, the new staff will only help the Internet Office continue to grow and prosper.

VA Leeson has already begun work on a multiplayer version of Sabacc using Flash. I've seen his front-end which is quite impressive, and he'll be using some of my code to program the backend. Hopefully, a beta version should be ready by next week! In case you're wondering, CD and BHG support are included in MP Sabacc.

Alex Foley should be returning from leave in a few days, once he returns we will prepare to release a new service, "EH Counters Service." Look for it coming soon to an IO Report near you!

Hawkeye II information will be sent out to the new staff members and hopefully we'll be able to get everything done. Progress has already begun to pick up; COL Mairin Astoris finished work on the fictionalization part of the plot, which will be incorporated into the missions. RA Ender mBind is working on a 3D model required for the Hawkeye II Trailer.

I'm going to be on leave for the following days: September 6-8, 15-16, 20-22, 28-29 for Jewish holiday observances. During that time, VA Leeson will be in charge.

Auroran News Network: get your submissions in! Deadline is September 8th, mail to ari@tiecorps.org and spellfire@btinternet.com!

Security Officer Report: 08.30.02
As Emailed From:  Security Officer (FA Brad)

Security Office

There was one warning issued this past week. The chance of just being given a warning is greater if the offense is minor or if you have never had a complaint issued before. Each complaint is treated separately since the circumstances and conditions of each are unique. "No two cases are alike."

There were no complaints received this week, so everybody must be behaving (or nobody is reporting it.)

This week I will talk about the Chain of Command. Each SubGroup (TIE Corps included) has their own chain of command.

Each is slightly different but there are a number of superior officers who have jurisdiction over a group of other members. For an exact copy
and explanation of your subgroup's chain of command, refer to the respective SubGroup manual.

If you are having a problem with a peer (person in same group), consult your superior officer. If it is a problem with your superior officer,
consult that person's superior officer. If the problem is with someone outside of your group but within that SubGroup, talk to the Superior
Officer who is in charge of both of you (in some cases this will be the SubGroup Commander/TIE Corps Commander). All complaints on Command Staff (excluding me), may go to the FC, XO, and me. If the problem is with me, contact the FC and XO. If the problem is with the XO, talk to the FC. If you have a problem with the FC, well then that is tough. :P

This is to ensure that I do not receive complaints about trivial matters. Nobody wants to go to the HCI if they don't have to, and I'm
sure that the FO and SGCOMs would like to regulate their own members. Of course if there are instances of serious violations you should issue a complaint for review by the Security Officer. Please consult the EH Bylaws ( http://www.emperorshammer.org/bylaws.htm ), Articles of War
( http://www.emperorshammer.org/aow.htm ), and IRC Codes of Conduct ( http://www.emperorshammer.org/irc.htm ).

Respectfully Submitted,

Science Office Report #2:  08.30.02
As Emailed From:  Science Officer (RA Ender mBind)

Science Office

I have become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds

Science Office News:

1. The Science Office is proud to present AD Darkhills latest invention: The X-Wing Alliance Briefing Launcher! What it basically does is allow
mission creators to add custom sounds (in .wav format) to the briefings of their missions, something which wasnt available before and which was one of the few things Lucasarts missions for XWA still had over those by the Emperors Hammer. Get the patch from the files section of the Science Office site, or via a direct link at:

http://www.gimmie.tudelft.nl/homes/blok10b/ender/engineering/craftpatch/xwa/BriefingLauncher.zip

2. Because of continued questions from members about the requirements for submitted OPTs (and even a submission that got rejected) Id hereby like to point towards the OPTing course for now it covers most of the questions on the subject. I am working on a Science Manual that covers these things in a more direct manner. Do take the OPT Course, it will become a requirement on OPT submissions the moment the Manual is ready. Get to the OPT course from the courses section of the Training Office site or via a direct link at:

http://www.gimmie.tudelft.nl/homes/blok10b/ender/iwats/

Science Office Status:

CA: Admiral Darkhill has been rewarded a Gold Star of the Empire (GS) for his more then excellent work on amongst others the new X-Wing Alliance Briefing Launcher. HE has already started on his next project, to achieve the same with TIE Fighter.

XvT/BoP/TIE95 Ship patches: This projects goal is to add all the original and Order of Battle craft that are still missing from these games, like
the SSD in TIE and XvT, the Medium Transport in all etc While pretty far already (about 70% done). This week the most work went into creating a
workable ship/patchlist for all three of the games.

Project Segway SCO section: This projects goal is to create a total Imperial/EH conversion of XWA. For the SCO section this means the addition of all the missing craft, plus additional features like EH-FG colours on all existing craft and additional craft and astronomical objects. This project is well under way as well, but currently on hold because of more pressing matters..

Again: Other projects are being considered, or even under way: A Science Manual with all the procedures of the SCO including requirements on craft/patch submission. Other on the side project Im working on are the Emperors Hammer Galaxy Race game (details not to be disclosed till some copyrights matters are covered) and the Emperors Hammer AGI Games project with the goal to make at least one AGI adventure game, in the style of the old Sierra Classics like Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest or Police Quest. If you got any experience in creating such games, please contact me.

Finishing up:

I think that's it If I've forgotten anything or if you have comments, suggestions or corrections, let me know via email.

(use only mindb_ender@hotmail.com for official SCO mails.) or ICQ (9706474).

Preferably do not mail large files to me, but DCC them via IRC Im practically always online at #emperors_hammer and #tiecorps using the nick MindB_ndr (or variations.)

All my SCO reports are online as well: you can reach them on the TC database:

Until next time, good luck and have fun!

Anakin Force FX Saber:  08.29.02
As Copied From: www.starwars.com (Emailed from HA Keiran Idanian)

"August 29, 2002

So you're in your 20's or 30's, you're headed out of the house in your very own Jedi robes, and you want the world to take you seriously. While your foam or plastic lightsabers have been great for honing your skills, they may not strike fear into the hearts of your local Sith.

Master Replicas, the official source for Star Wars prop replicas like the Han Solo blaster, Luke Skywalker's lightsaber and Yoda's lightsaber, will provide a serious answer this fall with the Force FX Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber... the first licensed prop replica saber that "works".

The solid-in-the-hand polished metal hilt is constructed from hand-machined and die-cast metal components. Permanently attached is an extremely durable electro-luminescent blade.
The fun begins when you switch the saber on and are greeted with the familiar "snap-hiss" sound of lightsaber ignition. Incorporated into the saber are digitally recorded sound effects taken directly from the movie soundtrack. Internal sensors control the audio, synchronized to your movements from the steady hum of a ready position, to the whoosh of a swing, to varying clashes should the blade encounter an obstacle.

The solid poly-carbide blade glows evenly and brightly thanks to an electro-luminescent material similar to that used in modern high-end glow-in-the-dark wrist-watches. The result is a blue glow that looks great even in bright daylight.

Unlike Master Replicas limited edition weapon props, this is not a true replica. While faithful to the look of Anakin's lightsaber from Episode II, some minor changes to size and detail were made to accommodate the product's electronics. Six standard AA batteries inside should provide four to five hours of action.

As few words of caution: this is definitely a collectible and not a toy suitable for children under 12 years of age. The product should not be used to strike others, and should never be disassembled as it operates on high voltage. Adult supervision is recommended.

Look for the Force FX Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber in specialty stores and online beginning this September."
