Office News
The
main issue the IO dealt with this week were message boards. Please
be advised that the procedure for requesting a new message board
is to e-mail the Internet Officer with your name, MB username,
ID line, and purpose of the message board. For boards other than
Squadrons, please include a brief description to be displayed
under the board name.
There
has been talk of transporting the EH message boards to use the
BHG MB code base. While I'm not a big fan of this idea, I will
look into it. Look for any updates on this situation in future
reports.
With
the launch of the new EH Radio station, the IO will be looking
into options available to us, including a possible "question-and-answer"
show.
IOAs
CyberGuy and Jam3z are currently working on the new Shadow Academy
site for HM Mage.
Also,
some very important news about MinosNIC from IOA Turtle:
"MinosNIC
now supports just over 140 Emperor's Hammer hosting accounts.
Thanks to everyone for using MinosNIC and making it a successful
service.
As
some of you know, I will be leaving on 6 January for active duty
with the U.S. Army. As such, I will not be available to maintain
the server or make changes. In preparation for my absence, I've
made numerous hardware upgrades to the server, including the installation
of additional hard drives, redundant cooling, new motherboard/memory/processor,
and an UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply).
Corey
Kallanberg, one of my RaptorNet system administrators located
here in town, will be monitoring everything in the NOC and repairing
any problems that my show up. Ari will be handling account approvals,
trouble tickets, and questions from EH members about the service.
He will also have some administrative (root) level access on the
server to enable him to make certain changes.
I
will be returning in late August of 2003."
