Section 1: Introduction

Before I get to the actual leadership sections, let’s take a look at what this course covers.

This is NOT a replacement for any other leadership course. This course will give instruction on how best to function as a Battle Team Leader in the Dark Brotherhood. This course, like any other course in leadership, may be biased toward the writer’s own style of command. Application of the information in this course, as you will learn, depends heavily on the preferences of your Battleteam Members and your superiors. You may even be Consul one day if you apply this information correctly!

“So You Want to Be a Leader...”

Every new member who wants to be a leader in the Dark Brotherhoodhas some desire to improve their units and themselves. Hopefully you’re more concerned about improving your unit and having more fun than you are with helping yourself to medals, though leadership positions are the easiest ways to be promoted -IF you do your job well.

Before you apply for a position, consider this: What am I getting myself into? Knowledge of that question usually makes or breaks a leader. Each position is a little different, based on the people involved, both subordinates and superiors. As a Battleteam Leader, you will be expected to keep your Battleteam Members (BTMs) happy, as well as your direct superior. The following are some general principles of being a leader.

Requirements of Battleteam Leadership:

  • Writing Weekly Reports
  • Writing Monthly Evaluations
  • Regular Activity
  • Creating and Managing Competitions
  • Welcoming New Members
  • Recruiting New Members
  • Maintaining a Website

The requirements of the job can sound intimidating at first, but don’t worry, they’re not too bad. We’ll go over each of these individuallyas this course progresses. First, it is very important that you understand a few more things about leadership.
