Basic defend mission but the addition of audio for the radio messages takes it up a notch.
Nice touch with the wave pack. But the mission itself is pretty standard.
Well, well, well. Yea, ships could be caught trying to leave an area so it makes sense. Didn't make much sense the low amount of fighters involved on our side but, TIE Defenders. We almost got enough information about hostile FGs and certainly we got help on the mission tips (yes, had to read them and it was cool to find help)
Good technical level, good placement of enemies and good timing for their arrival, no custom stuff , we could use the Sovereign OPT there.
Good challenge and took me a few attempts to decipher the mission. As a matter of fact, loved the challenge there when you have to identify the threat before it manages to destroy the critical craft. I mean, which fighters were hitting the ship? you could focus on intercepting them as the help text said or...you could disable at least one of them to prevent the next wave of attackers from coming, buying your allies time to escape which was my tactic here. I had to plan it ahead.
Good briefings, just enough messages, overall good grammar, no voice acting.
A bit stressing yet still fun.
5/5
A cool concept, since the frigate you're trying to protect is extremely overwhelmed when you reach her. It's playable though and is nice once you complete it. It's a fairly fast mission, so long as you focus on the bombers first and the fighters later.
This is a pretty simple and quick free mission but on hard you're required to move very efficiently to protect the Phoenix. Its a good level of challenge despite the smallish scale of engagement and I had to fly a few times to succeed.
Though this battle didn't present much of a challenge, sometimes it's nice to just strap on a TIE Defender and blow up some X-Wings! That, plus the custom audio, make this a five out of five from me!
The mission was easy to complete but fun at the same time. Enhanced by the fact it has its own sounds! For that alone it get's +1 point for a total of 4 out of 5. The briefing and debriefing are ok. For the gameplay itself, you fly in the obligatory T/D. Never in any true risk. Amazing though what a few sound files will do (I'm currently working on an entire campaign that will have its own sound).
I ended up doing this mission a few times, given I believed you could get pretty much all the kills on this one. It's a race against the time though as the enemy craft might crash against the Frigate or get killed by your friendlies. A really solid mission, fair story. And surprise near the end. Just remember you do have ion cannons.
The mission is a challenge even to the experience flyer; the setting of different waves of craft for different levels would enhance this mission.
I must admit...after most of the other DULL free missions...one with sound and challenge really amused me....Infact I loved this mission. If more could utilize the sound of the game they would be a whole lot better. Wolly hats off to you for a damn good mission. Best so far i think.
This was fun! I had to work hard to win this mission. It was hard, nasty and scary. Lots of adrenalin! I made my joystick complain when I tried to tear it out of it's housing desperatly trying to turn in behind an A-Wing. The voices gave an added feal to it. Now we know the voice of GN Wolly. A good mission with some challenge.
A pretty good and challenging battle.
This mission was not all that bad. I didn't find it too hard, yet I didn't find it all that easy either. Next time though, there should be more in the way of help by the wingmen.
This mission is great if you want to shake off a little rust after a long leave (I know it worked for me). But it may not be the best mission for either new recruits or the easily frustrated. Fending off Y-Wing torpedo attacks while trying to avoid a lot of A-Wings may overwhelm some pilots. The only thing that I would say would give this mission a 5 would be to include a little more help in the form of wingmen. When I told them to cover me, I still had to dodge missles from the A-Wings like mad. Good mission for those pilots that find most missions a little too easy.
I can only repeat what CPT Archon has said. I mean, hey - even on "easy" you must have Jedi reflexes to complete this one. That's frustating.
This is an excellent free mission! Tricky on Hard, which I like, and the attention to detail, right down to the inflight voice, was excellent. I can't reccommend this one enough.
Great battle, a little on the hard side though.
Although this mission is impossible or nearly so on the Hard difficulty setting, I found it to be quite fun. The sounds adds a lot to it.
You jump in and the frigate you are defending is already at about 75% hull with yet more warheads going towards it. You dust the first group of Ywings, then more appear at the same time you are engaging 6 missile armed Awings. You may be in a T/D, but this mission is ridiculous.
There are currently no open bug reports for this battle.
