This week has been keeping me rather busy, with visiting relatives, obsessively playing Diablo II, and the holiday season my schedule has been pretty full for the last week and a half. So busy in fact, that I forgot yesterday was Friday. Never the less, I did manage to get a bit done this week. I’ve been writing the next version of the Emperor’s Hammer: Picture Archive (EH:PA) after I realised how truly bad the PHP code for it was. It will likely share more closely the source code, and database from the Emperor’s Hammer: Visual Arts Gallery (EH:VAG). Some of the new features will be increased speed in loading EH:PA pages, a better search engine, and integration with the Emperor’s Hammer: Greeting Card Centre (EH:GCC).
Last weeks introduction of the EH:GCC was a great success. So far over 300 cards have been sent out. However, I still need more graphics to put on the cards. Graphics for various holidays such as New Years, Valentines Day, challenging friends/enemies to a game of XvT/XWA, etc… I want to get a large selection of graphics for the EH:GCC built up so that people have a greater selection of appropriate graphics to choose from for their cards. Any EH members wishing to create graphics for the EH:GCC should contact me at io@absolutek.com.
I would also like to remind EH members, that the EH:PA at http://www.ehnet.org/pa/ (the website which archives real life pictures of EH members), and the EH:VAG http://www.ehnet.org/vag/ (the website which archives graphic creations of EH members) both need new submissions. Any EH members wishing to send in a submission to either site, should send them to io@absolutek.com.
I have begun rewriting the EH Internet Office website to better be able to integrate future IO projects such as the EH Links Database, and existing IO sites such as the EH Webring, the EH:PA, and the EH:VAG. Not to mention some more advanced features such as session management. I also mentioned a while ago that I wished to add some message boards to the IO website at http://www.ehnet.org. This will be added as soon as I figure out how to best integrate the user databases in an efficient manner.
This week’s EH Site of the Week award goes to:
Since I’ve been the EH Internet Officer for over a month now, I would like to seek some feedback from EH members on what they would like to see from the Internet Office in the future, or what they like about it currently. Any EH members wishing to submit some commentery on the operation of the EH Internet Office, should send an email to io@absolutek.com.
Also, when EH members celebrate the New Year in a couple days, remember that 2001 is the start of the new millennium, and try to stay safe.
Condolences go out to all those who have had their holidays spoiled this year by the loss of a loved one.
Respectfully submitted,
