Sometime on November 30 LucasArts, in conjunction with Sony Online Entertainment Inc., is supposed to launch the new game's official information site, www.starwarsgalaxies.com.

The Star Wars Galaxies Web site will debut with three active community relations message boards and a list of frequently asked questions fielded by the game's development team.

At the request of VitCarp, the Competitions page now has a search facility. At the moment, it only allows you to search contact names. However, should it prove popular, it may be expanded to allow searching of other fields. The most obvious benefit of expanding the searching would be the ability to have a quick look at which wings and squadrons are the most active. The search form can be found here, down the bottom. The link colours for the entire site have also been changed to a pale blue-type colour, to allow easier readablity.

Zero point XvT pilot files

Thnaks to Commander Lord Linkan, the "problem" which leads to XvT pilot files with a zero score though the mission has been completed has been identified. When unlimited waves is enabled, no best score nor best time for the mission is recorded on completion, though a mission patch is delivered and the score obtained during the mission added to the total score. Due to the problems such a thing may bring to pilot file reviews, plus the fact the use of the unlimited waves option denatures the way the mission has to be completed, this option will be forbidden for submissions to the Battle Board. Pilot files with no best time recorded (ie played with unlimited waves) will be denied.

Posted on the LucasArts website (submitted by Fleet Admiral Royal):
Following an extensive review of the project and a great deal of deliberation, LucasArts Entertainment Company has ceased development of Star Wars: Obi-Wan for the PC. The expected breadth and scope of the Obi-Wan project could not be met given limitations of technology and the company's recently heightened quality standards. LucasArts is now planning to bring the game and its assets to a next generation console platform. Further announcements will be made in this regard next year.

LucasArts remains fully committed to developing games for the PC platform, as evidenced by its current development alliances with Verant Interactive, BioWare Corporation, and other soon to be announced projects.

We wish to thank our fans for their continued support through this process and assure them that our number one goal is to provide them with high quality, fun games.

This was sent to me from Project Veep corrupter467@aol.com about Star Wars: Call to Arms, a mod for Half-Life that was previously shut-down but now back under development:
SWCA takes place in the Star Wars universe and borrows it's military figures. It pits the Rebel Alliance versus the Galatic Empire and multiple scenarios, although only team deathmatch is currently the only implemented scenario. There are plans for a varied arsenal to choose of from body armor and extra ammo packs to different blasters to explosives. I would like to let people know that there is no current plan to include Jedi Knights or the Force. If you want Jedi action, I would suggest Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, or wait a bit and pick up Dark Forces 3: Obiwan. It shall feature a monetary system like Counter-Strike, but also feature (at this time at least) no limit to times a person can respawn.

Our URL is http://www.chaosrealm.com/swca.

Right now we are in need of a coder, some mappers, skinners, and a sound designer. If you're interested got to our site and contact our leader at evilleader@yahoo.com or contact me at corrupter467@aol.com.

For the Jedi Convention 2001 held in Cologne, Germany next Easter, the Emperor's Hammer is going to provide some demonstration custom missions for some competitions, with little prizes for the winners. The goal of this contest is to select the missions chosen for this event. Missions will be needed for all platforms, Tie Fighter, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and X-wing Alliance. Due to the "propaganda" nature of the event, only missions of the highest quality will be selected.

Three custom missions per platform will be chosen for single player competitions. In addition, a set of four XvT missions will be selected for a multiplayer contest: these missions can be in either "multiplayer combat" or "multiplayer training" formats, be played in cooperation or face-to-face engagement, but must be balanced for both sides.

In light of a few "concerns" from pilots and other security reasons, passwords may now only be retrieved via the Password Retrieval Form. You can no longer get your password by asking the Flight Office staff because they don't have access to other people's passwords. When you fill out forms or tests that require you to enter your password, it simply checks your password with the one stored on the database. It does NOT e-mail or display your password to other officers in the club. The only person in the entire fleet with access to see passwords stored on tiecorps.org is me and me alone.

I will not accept lost password requests either via e-mail or IRC. If you lose your password, use the retrieval form.

AbsoluteK's Hosting Services

I will be leaving my college residence on December 15th. This means that I will no longer have access to my T1 link to the internet, which is used to host my server which hosts many EH Websites. I have an account with 500MB of space on a different server which i can use to host websites, email accounts, and email lists. But due to the space restrictions, on webspace I can't host all the websites currently hosted on my server. I'm also aware of the fact that many of the websites on my server, haven't been updated in a long time, some since i first opened up the server almost a year ago. For this reason, and the space restriction on my account, I'am requiring anybody that wishes to continue recieving web hosting from me send an email to accounts@absolutek.com with the topic "My Website Account" and the following information in the body of the email:

-Account Name
-Current Password
-Size of website
-Why you deserve hosting

Priority for hosting will go in this order:
-Sub Group homesite
-Command Staff Offices
-Squadron
-others

Those people that have email, and email list accounts on my server currently will have their account setup on the new server by the time I leave college residence. However, they will have to email me for their account passwords. They can do so by emailing accounts@absolutek.com with the topic "My email/list account" and including the following information in the body of the email:

-account name
-current password

I'm very sorry to have to shut down my server, and understand that many EH'ers will be affected by this. To stay in college residence i'd need $1900CAD, which i don't have, and since i've been a full time student for 4 straight semesters now, i haven't had much time for a job either. I'm looking into other possibilities for hosting my server on a cable internet connection, but i'm not sure when or if i will be able to do that.

I would like to urge anybody who has any questions or concerns to please email me at absolute@ehnet.org.

Despite the fact that my server will cease operations (hopefully not permanently), on December 15th, I still plan to remain active in the Emperor's Hammer.

Platform Daedalus improvements

8 ABY
The modifications to Platform Daedalus are complete! Previously, Cadets were barred from using the TIE Corps database until after they completed training. This has changed as a Cadet's profile administration now displays a personalized Training Program for them along with their progress. From the welcome letter, they are given their PIN and Password to learn how to use the TIE Corps database from the beginning.

Pilots are shown the entry requirements for their game platform and training company. If the pilot hasn't passed IWATS Core, a link to the IWATS Core site is available. Cadets under 13 years of age can see if their parents have approved their membership status yet. A cadet can request a squadron assignment after all other elements of training are complete.

The Medal of Instruction system has changed slightly with this new system. Only one MoI can be awarded per pilot and it's no longer enough to just refer someone to the tiecorps.org page and abandon them to fare on their own. You have to help your newly recruited person (and make sure they know your PIN #) go through the training process and upon theif assignment with full member status as a Sub-Lieutenant, you will receive your Medal of Instruction.

If you're a Cadet and you don't know what your PIN # is, go to the Personnel Search page and search for your name or e-mail address. Your PIN # will appear next to your name. Your password is what you entered upon filling out the enlistment form. If you forget your password, go to the Password Retrieval page to have your password e-mailed to you. Cadets are no longer barred from using the Password Retrieval form either.

The Tactical Staff will welcome in addition to the Beta Team in charge of playtesting new battles a "Phoenix Engineers Team", in charge of checking/correcting battles released over the past year (TIE, XvT and XWA), the same way Project Phoenix did for the battles released before. This team will be under the direction of Vice Admiral Wlodek, send any application for joining the team to him. Tacticians positions should only be filled with skilled mission designers. Details about the Phoenix Team have been posted at http://www.tiecorps.org/tac/phoenix.html

I've added in links in the mIRC and IIC courses for the new online tests. The benefit in using these tests is that I check for new tests every day (as opposed to marking those in my Inbox every 3-4 days). Also, when you are passed under these online tests, your profiles are automatically updated to reflect the passed courses. If you see any bugs, email the Training Officer and SA Kawolski with a detailed explanation of what happened and any error messages you get.

The BSF Form now accepts X-Wing Alliance Pilot Files. The form hasn't been extensively tested, so make absolutely sure that the submitted pilot file scores match those you see in one of the EH's approved XWA pilot viewers!

If you spot any bugs, report them immediately to Sector Admiral Kawolski.

X-Wing Trilogy

Released yesterday in a Lucasarts Press Release! If you don't own X-Wing, TIE Fighter, or X-Wing Alliance, you'll be able to buy all three at the retail price of $29.95 US in the new "Star Wars: X-Wing Trilogy", which also includes X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: Flight School game. It doesn't appear to feature anything new bundled with it, so you probably shouldn't buy it if you already own all these games. If you don't, now's the chance! The set is to be released sometime this month. Read more about it here: http://www.lucasarts.com/static/pr/xwing3.htm

Thanks go to Commander Stele Pellaeon for the information.
