Just a few reminders from the Tactical Office regarding BSF's:
  • Players are allowed to skip 1 mission per battle. If gameplay errors would force you to skip 2 or more missions, stop playing the battle and inform the Tactical Office immediately. BSF's with more than 1 mission that has been skipped will be denied.
  • While sharing information about a battle is not prohibited, sharing your pilot files IS. If you are found to be sharing pilot files, you will find yourself (And the person you shared it with) brought up to the HCI for cheating.
  • CMDR's and above: If a pilot has skipped a mission in a battle, you MUST check the "No High Scores" box on the BSF form.
  • Audits: You have 1 (one) week to supply the requested Pilot file for an audit. If you do not within that time, the BSF will be automatically denied.
Questions concerning pilot files or the BSF system should be directed to Admiral StarLion

NAVCOM resigns

9 ABY
Recently, Naval Commander, Vice Admiral Bargon resigned. Here is the letter he sent to the Naval Corps.

[Email From r_bargon@hotmail.com - 24/1/01]

NC Staff, TFCs, and Flight Office members;

It is with great difficulty that I address you now. For the last couple of weeks, my life has been getting more and more hectic, and I feel that it has been impacting my ability to operate as NavCOM. I also am getting frustrated at the lack of interest in the current wargame, I am seeing barely 50% participation, and noone seems to notice when RL makes me miss a day. For these reasons, my inability to keep the wargame going, and my inability to keep the wargame interesting, I feel that I must step down as NavCOM. In my tenure as NavCOM, and indeed my whole career in the Naval Corps, I have tried my best to bring the Naval Corps to the higher level that it belongs on, and I refuse to allow the Naval Corps to be brought down by my inactions. I will of course still be around, to advise, and help in any way I can, but at this time I cannot handle the daily chores of Naval Corps Commander. Admiral Theodore, I hope that you can find a proper Commander for the Naval Corps, should you need some help in finding one, I would be glad to assist in any way I can. Task Force Commanders, my deepest apologies for leaving this wargame unfinished, but I do not feel that anything can be gained from trying to drag out the inevitable, should the new NavCOM wish to continue this wargame, I will of course turn over all the materials I have pertaining to it.

NavCOM/VA Bargon/VSD Monitor/Naval Corps (retired)

Bargon will be missed and we all wish him well in whatever he chooses to do now. :-)

Battle For Naboo on PC

9 ABY
As quoted from The Adrenaline Vault http://www.avault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=1242001-93832:

"LucasArts Entertainment is going to challenge PC game players to unite against the evil Trade Federation and strike back on land, sea and air in the flight action game Star Wars: Battle for Naboo. Released on the Nintendo 64, Battle for Naboo for the PC features enhanced game resolution, textures, and a new interface. Star Wars: Battle for Naboo for PC is being developed in conjunction with Factor 5 and is expected for release in March 2001.

In Battle for Naboo, players leap into a variety of Star Wars vehicles and traverse a wide range of environments while clashing with numerous Trade Federation enemies, such as battle droids, droid starfighters and AAT's. In the more than 15 levels, players experience new and familiar Star Wars locations while engaging in air-to-air, ground-to-ground, space and air-to-ground battles."

Hopefully, this game won't suck quite as badly as all the other Episode One games. Only time will tell.

I would like to apologize for the virus warning connected with the latest BG Report. I was totally unaware that it was infected, partly because my VirusScan program was not operational at the time. I have bought a new program, Norton AntiVirus 2001, and will install shortly to prevent this incidentfrom hapening again. As far as I can tell I got this myself from an E-Mail I recieved some time ago. I have also patched my Outlook Express to prevent such viruii from entering my system again. Again, I am sorry for any trouble this may have caused. I will honestly make sure this will never happen again.

Something important I forgot to mention in my Sov Report that just couldn't wait until Sunday.

Every month I review squadrons for the COM's Own award, and most of the time I withhold it for one reason or another. This month, I was going to award it to Sigma Squadron of Wing II, but decided that the continued level of excellence the pilots of Sigma exhibit deserves a higher honor than COM's Own.

After consultation with LC Inkwolf, I've decided to name Sigma the official escort squadron of the Sov Flag Officers for the first quarter of the year. Congratulations to all Sigmans on a job VERY well done!!

Battlegroup Report Virus

COL Kessler

18 January, 2001 09:54
9 ABY
This weeks' Battlegroups Weekly Report was an HTML email which unfortunately contained the WScript.KakWorm virus. This virus will automatically infect your system by exploiting a security loophole in Outlook Express if you so much as LOOK at the email it arrives in. The virus contains a payload which will cause random shutdowns of your system at certain trigger dates. Microsoft are aware of this problem and have released a patch for Outlook Express which removes the security loophole which allows the virus to function. Details of the patch can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS99-032.asp If you already have this patch installed, then you have nothing further to worry about, your system is safe. If you do NOT have this patch installed, read on...

If you received this weeks' Weekly Battlegroup Report in HTML format and did NOT get a virus warning from your email scanner (or if you don't have one installed) then you HAVE BEEN INFECTED by the virus and must take the following steps to remove it:

Visit this website: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2000020318071406 ...and read the instructions contained therein. The most simple and effective way to neutralise the virus is to download and run the fix tool located at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/wscript.kakworm.fix.html This programme will repair all damage caused by the variant of the virus distributed in this weeks' Battlegroups Report. In the unlikely event that it doesn't work on your system, there are also comprehensive details on the same webpage for removing the virus manually.

To conclude, I'd reccommend that anyone who doesn't already own an AntiVirus programme that includes an email scanner gets one NOW. Thanks for your attention.

Now that New Years has passed by and the fact we are a week into the year 2001, the Logistics Office has come back from the dead and several setbacks to bring to you many new projects. The biggest of which is to be announced later in the week. Moving on, The LO needs your help in gathering fiction, graphics, old rosters, INPRs, Personal Histories, Ship Histories, Subgroup Histories, Monumental EH desicions, Wing Histories, Squadron Histories, Histories of CS officers, old Subgroup manuals, old subgroup webpages, old subgroup commander histories, and anything else you think can be essential or non essential in helping the Logistics Office in archiving the history of the EH. Eventually after we collect all this data it will be submitted to the Training Office for placement in the EH Encyclopedia(being compiled by HA Astatine).

Here are a list of email addresses you can submit data and information to. You will be rewarded for submitting information:

http://www.egroups.com/group/BHGHistory
CDHistory@egroups.com

EHHistory@egroups.com
EHStories@egroups.com
FMCHistory@egroups.com
HFHistory@egroups.com

Also a plan is in the works to appoint a ship/wing historian to compile their wing/ship's history into one large work and submit it to the LO. We need many people to help out with this so if you could email Commander Ramos Kanzco and tell him if you are interested in becoming your ship's historian. This will be an unofficial posistion and will not be added to your ID line.

9 ABY
With today marking his two-year anniversary of holding the position of Executive Officer, Sector Admiral Compton has announced his resignation and is stepping down from his position.

As posted in NL #70:

I hereby step down as Executive Officer of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet. That is the hardest sentence I've ever had to type in my life. It's been a fun ride, but it's been a long one, and I simply don't have the time that this position needs anymore. I really wish I did, but it wouldn't be fair to you, the members of the Emperor's Hammer, if I were to remain as XO any longer; you deserve more than I can give. I can only hope that you feel the years I've devoted to the Fleet as XO have been good ones, and I sincerely hope the EH Territories are an even better place now than they were two years ago.

Sector Admiral Kawolski has also officially been named the new Executive Officer today! You can see the new XO Homepage, along with the rest of Compton's letter, at: http://www.kawolski.com

A Command Attaché (CA:XO) has already been selected: Vice Admiral Slade, who has previously served as CA:TAC and COM of the DGN Lichtor V and has been instrumental in creating many of the graphics and banners you see throughout the fleet, the tiecorps.org layout graphics, and the new XO site graphics.

More announcements, as well as a formal introduction, are to come!

We are going to have a little stand representing the EH on the convention, by setting up some PCs and letting the visitors play our custom missions, and by giving info to anyone who's interested in the club! If you'd like to join our happy little group of recruiters, please contact me at callista@tiecorps.org and I'll give you more info about our meeting there. If you need more information on the Jedi Con itself, go to http://www.jedi-con.de/ , the page is available in English as well :) Please make up your minds on whether you want to attend the meeting and the convention soon, if you sign up before January 15 it'll save you 20 DM (10$/6 pound)! Together we'll make this an event to be remembered! :)

Some people have reported a problem when submitting fiction that reads "Exception Occured". The only people who have been experiencing this are those who are submitting extremely LONG pieces of fiction of at least 40+ pages. I'm currently aware of this problem and I'm looking into fixing it soon.

Users in the ImperialAcademy.org database with "dead" email addresses have had their subscription status turned off, so I don't keep getting error emails. A majority of the people causing these errors are people who had email addresses on domains hosted by IO/AD AbsoluteK. These domains include ehnet.org, squadron.org and stardestroyer.org. If you have changed your email address recently and do wish to still receive news updates from the Training Office and IWATS, you can go to www.imperialacademy.org/settings and update your email and turn your subscription status back on again. If you have any difficulties with doing this, contact the Training Officer at jpboyce@indigo.net.au
