For example, the Dark Brotherhood (DB) site is at: http://db.subgroup.tiecorps.org

Wing IX WC open to applications

FA Priyum Patel

27 April, 2001 10:23
9 ABY
This from Rear Admiral Ricaud, recently promoted to RelCOM:

With the appointment of a new Commodore of the ISD Relentless, it is now necessary for an equally-new Commanding Officer of Wing IX to be found. Effective immediately, the post is open to any and all interest individuals in the TIE Corps at the rank of Commander or higher, and with previous experience as a squadron leader. However, this will be no normal application procedure. Because the "Fighting Ninth" is an exceptional wing, recently winning the titles of TIE Corps Commander's Own and TIE Corps Battlegroups Flagship within the space of a month, it deserves an exceptional commander.

Thus, this appointment will not be decided purely or even largely on past experience, but ability. All candidates for the position of Wing IX Commander should write a short essay, with a minimum of 750 words, on the topic of "the nature of power within the TIE Corps" with particular reference to the post of Wing Commander. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of where an officer's authority derives from, the limit to this, interrelational requirements with other positions with regards to WC, and how the efficient legitimacy of a command is established and maintained.

If it sounds confusing, you probably shouldn't think about applying. There is no right or wrong answer, all that I want to hear are your own theories of basically where a Wing Commander's power lies, how they maintain it, and how they should exercise and use it. The more intelligently and eloquently a discussion on the subject you can write, the better your chances.

All applications should be e-mailed to val.ricaud@btinternet.com and CC:ed to jarak@stny.rr.com. You may also send any questions concerning the application procedure and what is expected to the former of these addresses, or catch up with me on IRC as Ricaud in channels #Emperor's_Hammer, #TIECorps, or #ISD_Relentless. However, do please send formal applications in soon!

SilentOne Bot

23 April, 2001 01:32
9 ABY
Just a reminder about the bot SilentOne. SilentOne provides a few useful services from the Internet Office for general EH membership to use. First off is it's logging capabilities, SilentOne keeps logs of the channels it's in and keeps track of the topten speakers which can be displayed via /msg SilentOne topten #channel and you can find out your own listing in the bot's memory by typing /msg SilentOne place #channel

SilentOne also provides a quote system, where a separate quote file will be generated for any channel that wishes to have quotes enabled in. The channel owner will be given Channel Master access on SilentOne and is able to give addquote access to other people.

SilentOne's probably, most useful feature is it's power to query and Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3 and Half Life servers for listings of players, pings, and frags. It is extremely helpful if you want to check out the number of players currently on the Team EH: CounterStrike Server (http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp#1891) This can be achieved by typing: !HL Hammersfist.net

If you wish to have SilentOne in your channel, please send a e-mail to guyquake@btinternet.com including your ID-Line, Average Number of Visitors and Channel Name.

Greetings. To facilitate an increase in activity, the Special Operations Director (SOD) is now accepting new project ideas. The only criteria as of right now are as follows:

1. New projects must involved the Emperor's Hammer or once of it's respective subgroups.

2. Any and all suggestions must be original. No cheap knock-offs of other projects or programs.

3. Make them cool! The EH already has a great foundation for doing what it set out to do (being the largest Star Wars organization in the world and all), so let's all contribute to make it an even more fun group to be a part of!

As soon as I get a SpecOps webpage up and running, there will be a submission form for sending in such ideas and suggestions. For now, just send them to me at belair2267@email.com. Hope to hear from you soon!

Either via stupidity or just trying to rort the system, a number of competitions are being submitted that are unacceptable. Similarly, any competitions where the CMDR of the winning squadron gets an award will be denied. I hope that clears things up.

It has been brought to my attention that i wasnt clear enough in defining Bug Report.

A Bug Report shall be filed by the Pilot, in the case that he/she skipped a mission during the course of that battle, on the TIECorps.org Battle Board. Reasons attached to BSF's will NOT be considered Bug Reports.

For specific instructions on bug reports, log in to the database and click on the link marked Battle Bug Report Information.

I am in need of people to create graphics specifically for use in greeting cards. The kind of graphics i'm looking for should include some sort of message appropriate for greeting card. Some uses of greeting cards on the EH:GCC (http://gcc.emperorshammer.ca) could be, but not limited to:

  • Challenging another to a contest

  • Rubbing in a defeat

  • Sending holiday cheer

  • Recruiting a non-EH friend

  • Since the relative lack of choices for EH:GCC graphics, i'm offering a minimum of an ISM per graphic that is chosen to be posted on the EH:GCC. Please submit any graphic submissions, or ideas for the EH:GCC to FA AbsoluteK.

Over the course of last week, two Flag promotions were granted within the TIE Corps. Congratulations to LC Badlands, Wing CMDR of WXI, who was promoted to Colonel and to COL Jeff Loruss, WC of Avenger WII, who was promoted to General. Both men are outstanding Officers, and a credit to the Corps.

Earlier last week, General Sasquatch, current Commander of Wing III announced his retirement from active service. Over the past 2 years and more, Sas has proved himself to be one of the most capable and respected Officers in the TIE Corps, ensuring that those serving under him were always having fun. For the work and effort he's put into making the Corps a better place, the General is hereby awarded the Gold Star of the Empire.

Sorry to you go Sas, but I know you'll be back soon!

Once in a great while, a fan film is made of such excellent quality that it should have its own special section on the TFN website. Nonetheless, while it looks dumb at first, this is one of the best Fan Films out there! ...even though it was made by Aussies. >:P

It takes place on Tattooine at the beginning of the Empire Strikes Back when a couple of young curious Jawas stumble upon one of the Empire's Imperial Probe Droids. Combined with nicely done CGI, costumes, filmwork, and storyline (though I feel like I'm watching an "Ewoks" movie sometimes), this film is well worth the 64 MB download it requires!

Make sure you have the latest version of QuickTime or the movie may look a little messed-up.

Seeing as things are slow on the news page these days and Half-life/Counterstrike is pretty popular with some members, I decided to post this. :P

Sierra On-Line and Gearbox Software have announced that the newest episode of the Half-Life action game franchise, Blue Shift, will be released in June.

Blue Shift is an expansion that will allow you to explore the restricted Black Mesa Research Facility. In the single player game, you play the role of the security guard that allied with Gordon Freeman in the original title, struggling to keep yourself and the research facility's staff alive as you face off against numerous hostile threats.

Half Life: Blue Shift includes the award winning Half-Life: Opposing Force, the Half-Life HD pack, and a 32-player multiplayer option. The HD pack upgrades all weapons and characters in all Half-Life games to a new high definition standard.
